CRITICAL PURPOSE
There can be no doubt that it is almost impossible to train children in a way they should go (Proverbs 22:6) when we send them to secular, anti-Christ schools. Even our best efforts seem to go awry when our children enter their mid to early teens. Keep in-mind that we send them to the secular, anti-Christ schools 5 days a week, 6 hours a day, 9 months a year. Meanwhile, as parents we work, have our own personal pursuits, and have to provide whatever we can for our children with a few hours each day. Given the best conditions, our children are in Christian settings outside the home about 4 hours a week. So, doing the math they are in a culture of secular, debased, and often anti-Christ thinking for thirty or more hours. Their friends and associates outnumber their Christian friends. And the instruction and teachers are also persons who embrace secular thinking. This weighs heavily against Christian parents who are often overwhelmed trying to make a living; and belies a few hours weekly where they may or may not be in a setting consistent with their faith.
Also consider the potential for a violent or criminal act affecting their lives on any given day at school.
No wonder our children and teens are so overwhelmed with spirits of darkness. This condition creates a foundation for rebellion and feeling that they are left-out when we try to raise them in the fear of the Lord. This does not demean the efforts of Christian teachers and administrators in the secular setting. However, where possible, we need to provide opportunities for our children and teens to learn in settings that support the principles of God they are taught at home. No parent should have to battle with a child being taught that evolution is how the world began. No parent should have to struggle with their child being taught that homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle. No parent should have to be bothered with their child being around children whose parents do not teach them anything about God’s principles. No parent should have to insist that a child resist sex before marriage because they are in a culture supporting premarital sex.
However, if we place them in circumstances daily where they are learning the opposite of all we teach, we can expect the obvious. It is truly a miracle of God that they gleam anything we try to share concerning a life in Christ.
